On 16 March, we were delighted to be invited to Towcester Primary School’s official opening ceremony of its school bus.
The project to restore the bus has been ongoing for the past year and the once rundown double decker has now been made into a fantastic learning space for the children.
The bottom floor has benches for the children to conduct science experiments, and the top floor has tables and chairs creating a quiet and calm space for children to read. The whole bus is equipped with plug sockets for the teachers to use their laptops and there is even an overhead projector.
Earlier this year, Porsche Centre Silverstone started fundraising for the bus project through a sponsored walk up Mount Snowdon. A team of ten staff participated in the walk and raised money needed to complete the electrical work on the bus. Through various other activities, such as a cake sale in the Centre and a raffle at the school’s fete, Porsche Centre Silverstone was also able to fund the artwork on the side of the bus. After a competition in the school, two winning designs were chosen which were then made into banners for the bus.
Emma Watkins, Marketing Controller for Porsche Centre Silverstone, who was at the opening ceremony said "To see the bus now completed and ready for the children to start enjoying was a real pleasure, the children were all very excited and myself and the rest of the Porsche Centre Silverstone team are very proud to have been able to help the school to fund such a great project". During the ceremony, Emma was invited to cut the ribbon and delcare the bus open for learning.

For Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) range and Equivalent All Electric Range (EAER) figures are determined with the battery fully charged, using a combination of both battery power and fuel.
Values are provided for comparison only. To the extent that fuel and energy consumption or CO₂ values are given as ranges, these do not relate to a single, individual car and do not constitute part of the offer. Optional features and accessories can change relevant vehicle parameters such as weight, rolling resistance and aerodynamics which may result in a change in fuel or energy consumption and CO₂ values. Vehicle loading, topography, weather and traffic conditions, as well as individual driving styles, can all affect the actual fuel consumption, energy consumption, electrical range, and CO₂ emissions of a car.
